My first experience with drawing was in grade school. I used to spend my time at home drawing Disney characters.

When I went to High School, I knew by then I wanted to be active in Art. I was fortunate to be able to attend Cass Tech, in Detroit, Michigan. They were like a college in that their class structure had Major and Minor status. I majored in Commercial Art and Costume Design. This included pencil, watercolor, scratchboard, charcoal and illustration.

With this background I continued on to the University of Minnesota for one year. At that time I met my future husband. As we planned to get married, I left school and went to work to prepare for our move to a new home. We moved east to Idaho and started our family. I was able to make friends in the art community, and I became a charter member of the Clearwater Art Society, in Orofino Idaho. I was back painting in watercolor. We showed our work at the local fair.

When we moved to Clarkston, Washington, I was working and raising our family, so I didn’t do much with my art until I took a scratchboard class with Judy Fairley. That got me going again. I started taking her classes in pastel and have been showing in the Valley Art Center in their shows ever since. I also showed in the Idaho Falls, Idaho art center, and the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown Washington.
